Sand Springs is a little bit of everything. Not too long ago, this fairly large and unincorporated area was largely thought of as one of the primary north suburbs of Atlanta. But regional growth over the past couple of decades essentially blurred the lines between north Buckhead and Sandy Springs.
In 2005, Sandy Springs incorporated as a standalone city. Geographically, the area is divided by I-285 with the south side bordering Buckhead and the north bordering Roswell, Dunwoody and Marietta.
